hi @Oceane! happy to read you here also 😊
The toast message on login is kinda annoying. It just creates work for me
@vera fixed (on next release)
ah i love that almost any #bonfire screenshot here on campground comes with a different theme 😀
Is it planned to enable a way to migrate accounts from other federated networks to bonfire? #bonfire_feedback
@jl yes, and also viceversa - migrating a bonfire account to other platforms
Not really. I just signed up here and don't know much about it yet, so I wouldn't really know what a good description could be.☺️
But next time I find something, I should probably best take it to the github page anyway, right?
@just_a_frog it's fine both way, we've set this instance to discuss with the community and help finding bugs / improvements, so we constantly monitor the timeline 😊
This doesn't seem right 🤔 🤔
@just_a_frog uhm yeah im not satisfied either, any suggestions?
Tried to send a message to @ivan and got this error:
(and Add description froze)
@bhaugen thanks noted - DM needs more tests!
@ivan @dajb That's an interesting feature but indeed is confusing when the user interface looks like something could be changed. I ran into this misunderstanding with "pages". For users that cannot change settings a more tabular display would be better, perhaps like Mediawiki lists installed extensions?
@ivan Of course he is. we take the 10 most visited sites in the world on a similar topic and see that many things are the same. This is especially evident in online stores. Any deviation from usability significantly reduces the conversion rate. Users are accustomed to a certain pattern and will not use something that differs from generally accepted practices. You can build an atomobile with a steering wheel on the roof, but no one will buy it. But everyone is trying to come up with their own template, especially in federated social networks. And it turns out the most terrible designs in the world, uncomfortable and disgusting (akkoma). See how it is implemented in metafox, everything is simple and clear
demo.metafox.app/user
@volanar i'm not saying that design/UX patterns does not exist 😅 - i'm saying that there isn't a single guideline for where messages and notifications should be in social networks (or pls point me toward such specific guideline). Also I'd be careful to mix usability and conversion rate - they're 2 completely different things.
@mael, In the new version, a whole header block with notification and message icons has disappeared. This is a deterioration of the user experience, since they should be in their place according to generally accepted usability practices. Will they appear in future updates?
@volanar i don't think there's really a shared UX pattern for where notifications and message should be - there's several and it varies based on different layouts.
#bug Instance settings are available to non-admins (although without permissions to change anything)
@dajb that's actually is a #feature, with a UX that makes it feel like a #bug 🤨 . The concept is to enhance transparency and let the users see the instance defaults and config, but of course without the possibility to edit them without the right permissions, but I agree with you that is still confusing that way
Hello world!

User's full name is shown in small letters on top of posts, although being capitalized in profile settings.
#bonfire_feedback
oops, fixed thanks
#bonfire_feedback would be cool to have some context on post replies
this is because the light theme is bugged, if you change to dark theme you'll see the context above the activity, and can also expand it by clicking on it
@ivan how can we help testing? Not really sure
@MothLovesFire playing around and reporting any bugs or unexpected / weird ux behaviours, or suggesting new ideas. We maintain a simple hotfix pad where we add all the bugs that are relevant for the 1.0 release, and we add on github anything that is less urgent or that requires more discussions.
Fantastic! The system feels much more responsive than in the playground instance. I'm going to try some federation experiments today!
#bonfire_feedback
nice! It would be great if you can share a simple report of your testing and the results with us! Ps Our first iteration will be focused on ensuring interoperability with mastodon, but it will be interesting to see what is the current status with other platforms as well
@despens The threading works ok, but the [-] and [+] widgets to fold and unfold thread branches is not that great because they're not used to add or remove something, just to show and hide nested items. I'd suggest using the classic caret instead like it is common for directory structures
It's not focaccia
@MothLovesFire Lol
