@taylorlorenz I second City Lights bookstore. It has quite a history, if you're not familiar. They're indoors but sometimes have events outside in Jack Kerouac Alley.
Also, if you're in SF next weekend, the big thing is the amazing and free Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival in Golden Gate Park. Many stages of diverse and excellent music. Super crowded, though, unless you score a friends & family pass.
