Proposal: stop saying stuff like "we're destroying the planet" and change it to "they're destroying the planet", to pivot away from self blame when most of us don't have the power to change things and definitely would if we could, and towards laying the blame squarely on the elites propping up the fossil fuel industry so we can focus our collective anger on those actually responsible

@BathysphereHat They're thinking about the result, not the physical motion. Making a light, not rubbing sticks together. Flint&steel, switch, the Clapper... they're all ways to make light, so you can apply the same law to all of them. Interesting question to ask your rabbi... can you carry around a disconnected switch and flip it as a fidget toy on Shabbos? I think you could, but can't find any discussion.
I would argue that a fire is combustion, which is an exothermic chemical reaction between a fuel and an oxidant (usually oxygen). But light bulbs are specifically filled with inert gasses, isolating the filament from oxygen so that it will not combust.
That said, 1) there may be something I'm missing in the Hebrew that makes this more ambiguous than I understand, and 2) you can do whatever you want forever. I'm not gonna get mad at anyone for not turning on lights on the sabbath.

Leggo dell'ennesima petizione (promossa da un blog che puzza di renzocalendismo a un kilometro) per ridurre il periodo di stop estivo delle lezioni nella scuola dell'obbligo. Discorsi belli tondi e ragionevoli sulle "perdite cognitive e relazionali" de* ragazz* causate dalla lunga pausa, sulle disuguaglianze che questa genera tra chi può permettersi campi estivi e chi no, sulla necessità impellente di rendere obbligatorio il tempo pieno fino ai 14 anni...insomma il solito canovaccio di luoghi comuni mascherato da premura educativa ad opera di libdem che rosicano abbestia perché gli/le insegnanti stanno a casa un po' più di loro. Preferisco a sto punto la retorica da quattro soldi diretta e sincera che fanno gli scemi del bar

proprio oggi leggevo che ci sono 130k cattedre scoperte per non parlare dei tanti edifici scolastici che cadono a pezzi ma è molto meglio fare questi discorsi retorici .
come quando eravamo tutti infermieri/medici slash vi amiamo nostri eroi slash foto di infermiere esauste in prima pagina e adesso i pochissimi rimasti li menano nei pronto soccorso.
