Hey @ivan, @bonfire@indieweb.social I love the latest Bonfire release. Is there a migration pathway to convert existing mastodon instances? It might become a requirement for communities that want to take advantage of Bonfire features without having to start over from scratch?
@Fediverse_Report @despens @bonfire@indieweb.social not yet, but it's in the roadmap for the 1.0.
You can see next milestones here: github.com/bonfire-networks/... (migration is in the v1.0 of core framework)
Hmm, @Fediverse_Report liked my post and the notification bell indicates I have 1 notification but I can't work out a way how to reset that counter. I've looked at the notifications and the post but it's still telling me I have one notification 😕
@ivan any doc for creating and using circles? If I want to create one, what should I do?
@bhaugen preparing something to share, hopefully by tomorrow and will share on this thread too 😊
@bhaugen you should be able to create a circle and use it in the composer to customise the boundaries of your post!

Just testing out another new instance type to see what it is like and what various apps think of it. Also added it to my bot's configuration (@fediversecounter@mastodon.social) so it will count it as a fediverse member.

🔥🔥🔥 New Bonfire release: v0.9.2! We're thrilled to announce the latest update, bringing you a more robust and tested boundary system and polished UI.
@ivan Superb improvements all around!
how exactly does bonfire federate? I can find my mastodon account (and visa versa), but not my calckey account
@despens fixed in the next release, thx
You did an amazing job with the threads. Congrats!!
@ivan I am still not in a hurry, but asking how that work is coming along so I can put it in my growing todo list whenever.
If you don't know, don't worry, no answer will tell me to keep it off my todo list for now...

Testing on Firefox on Android both of the videos autoplay when I click them.
Everything we value as "humane" – trust, empathy, respect, solidarity – is just the set of the optimal conditions for human communication and coordination. CW politics ↓
(Speaking as someone who'd like to stop being abused, yeah, these conditions aren't met because the relationship between the ultra-rich and the 99% is defined by abuse – I call that "class abuse". You aren't a lesser person if it's often difficult for you to meet these conditions. It's just that I believe most people want to "be" that kind of person – at least towards who they consider as part of their social camp, and it may exclude people like me, and this is a problem, but it's also a consequence of the ultra-rich attacking our education, because they never wanted an educated workforce.)
#bonfire_feedback Decentralized moderation? 😁 The possibility to have your instance moderated by third-party volunteers, or people you pay. Or the possibility to make your account/instance follow another instance's blocklist (for example I like social.coop's so I'd like to make my Bonfire instance follow theirs)
Thank you so much for reading this and paying attention!
Woops, didn't mean to post an emoji

@ivan thanks. I'll try it when I see it. And as always, I am not in a hurry.

@ivan as I mentioned, I want to try to deploy a Bonfire instant in my geographical neighborhood. When I do that, I will try to instrument it a bit to measure different interactions that seem slow to me and see if I can spot some low-hanging improvements. So far, the big slowdown seems to be whenever a bunch of posts are collected and presented, as in Activities, Posts, or Discussions.
@bonfire@indieweb.social
Looks like the checkmark on the notifications is intended to signal that you have seen them, so they will not continue to show numbers of notifications in your bottom left column by your name. Also looks like I need to click the checkmark more than once to silence the notifications. I suspect that this is actually a consequence of slow response from the server, and so another performance issue. I think I have seen lags like that in other places....will keep a list until I get my own instance up and running so I can instrument some of these lags....
@ivan thanks. Let me know if you want me to participate in any tests. That's probably the best I can do to help. Doubt if I can find a root cause...
