@mayel @ivanI am currently trying whether I can do this with boundaries and circles. Honestly, I find the connecting concepts boundaries and circles really hard to grasp. They seem to be implemented so generically (which is GREAT) that I have difficulties navigating.
Great to see so much development @ivan !
I have a qustion for a specific use case (could also ask this somewhere else, but why not here):
Say, I set up a rather local-focused bonfire instance, for example, inviting all people from my small village to have an account. I would like to be able to:
1) Post my opinion about, say, synthesizers to be read by people from all known instances. (and of course let all villager post about whatever they find interesting)
2) Allow villagers to post stuff about our village that is only visible for people in the village. For example, I could invite people for helping organizing a cleanup day in the village hall. If I understand correctly, this would be done by setting the boundary to local on my village instance.
3) On my instance, I would like to offer all accounts a default custom feed that only shows local stuff (as posted under point 2). Most villagers don't care about my opinion about synthesizers, they just wanna see what's going on in the village. (so, that is different from the current default "local" feed)
I would really love it when this third option would be possible. The literal example given here would be a serious use case, but I can think of many more.

📣 Bonfire Social 1.0rc3 just dropped! This latest release puts data portability and anti-enshittification front and center.
Read what's new:
@ivan will you be attending FediForum next week? I had hoped to join a session related to this. Unfortunately I literally have a direct conflict, I will be in another province at a 3-d forum related to my other studies for this term. That said, I will try to drop in when I can and am currently doing online-social jigsaw puzzles in my head and my Obsidian notes, trying to relate these two realms.
More when I suss it out, but I would love to connect in the coming weeks over whether I and some collaborators can support your team with some sort of early user testing and feedback.
@johannab sounds great! We will indeed attend the fediforum, demoing the open science network latest release, but very much open to join any relevant sessions later...
@johannab great to have you here! We will have some cool announcements in the coming weeks, and would love to hear more about your case studies

apparently if the quote is added at the beginning of the post the composer does not handle the link campground.bonfire.cafe/pub/...
this should work...

Obviously still a WIP, considering the composer doesn't show up immediately after hitting "quote," and the embed doesn't seem to be showing up for me. But still, pretty quick turnaround!

@ivan you weren't kidding about "very soon" 😳
I wonder if anyone is working on a bonfire extension for Quotes (maybe even Mastodon compliant ones?)
@LiquidParasyte it will be available very soon 😊

- navigating backwards from Configure Dashboard , Feed presets, Import status, Custom Emojis, or Libraries and licenses will dump you back at the Home feed instead of the top view for Settings
- I would like to be able to tweak parameters of existing feeds rather than having to recreate them from scratch.
- good catch!
- right, we have an issue for that! github.com/bonfire-networks/...
@LiquidParasyte can you expand these 2:
- Backwards navigation in Settings still needs work
- Still wish you could edit feeds afterwards

Hi there sandbox. Newly joined, but I've been watching what Bonfire's been up to since you turned up at a Fediforum, and looking forward to a chance to see how well you trample a Mastodon.
I'm part of the admin teams at wandering.shop and cosocial.ca, but also a grad student trying to figure out a pitch for a capstone project somewhere in civic tech + urban communites spaces, so getting more into Bonfire has been realllllly intriguing.

I like the changes made recently
- New bottom menu for mobile with home/search/notifications/inbox and Post
- Better UX for feed creation, plus RSS/atom generators (and you can delete them now!)
- Post button no longer obscures settings, and is properly accounted for on all views
- Still wish you could edit feeds afterwards
- Backwards navigation in Settings still needs work
