I remember a talk at the Thinking Digital conference which talked about this kind of stuff. Except it was people *choosing* to be part of a different nation to where they were based geographically.
That seemed unlikely, and continues to be - so I can't imagine people being allowed to live next door to one another and follow completely different laws, taxation, etc.*
It's more likely to be similar to dual nationality.

This is tragic but also super-interesting. They already have 25 countries who have formally agreed to recognise their digital nation.
If they end up with many more, as I should imagine they will, it's a step further than what Estonia have done.
Tuvalu will exist as a diaspora, as a nation state with borders which only exist digitally.
