@dansup from my point of view, implementing a protocol requires a very different skill set than developing a protocol. So no, i do not consider myself a protocol developer.
As you know, comment policy was not part of the original protocol as released in 2018.
Also there is an open space where new protocol enhancements are discussed. You know it: #^https://codeberg.org/fediverse/fep
IMO "join my discord/matrix" is not how actually open development should look like.

@dansup as mentioned, i am not the one you need to talk to.
I am just observing how things are currently evolving and worried that fedi will end up with a number of incompatble implementations of a imo crucial feature.
@mario well you would be the person to talk to if your project implements this, there is no problem with Pixelfed supporting various implementations
It's understandable to have different implementations, we just have to make sure we can support them properly
@dansup@mario Most interop and FEP discussions happen on SociaHub. Comment controls are discussed in this thread: https://socialhub.activitypub.rocks/t/fep-5624-per-object-reply-control-policies/2723 (you can find an overview of the current work at the end of it)
@silverpill@mario thats up for debate, I don't see Mastodon or some other projects presence on socialhub
I've also already implemented a basic form of this that pre-dates your implementation, circa 2019
That being said, I will make a thread about this on Socialhub, and look forward to your and the communities feedback!

I know open development happens in pull requests, but discussion around development happens in many places.
I'm not asking you to join my discord or matrix, I want to come to you, but it seems like you don't have a real time platform, so I guess I will have to resort to inefficient methods like this post.
Are you on XMPP or something? Like can't you see the point here?
