Hello, its nice and warm around this bonfire. Just having a prod and a poke at this platform, does anyone know how I can get in touch with the devs and possibly book a call?
@cranio @PlayAwfulThings here the link to book a call

back on campground 🔥
I like the UI here.
Does it support* bold* and italic?
Also are there [link support](https://prma.dev)? Apparently not!
@prma weird, it should support md links, opening a issue!
That wasn't easy to find this button 🫠
@max adding a keyboard shortcut soon
Just trying #BonFire . As an academic, opensource and fediverse proponent, I read this https://bonfirenetworks.org/app/open-science/ and thought that Bonfire seems the place to be. That said, I'm struggling to find those features and/or understand how the ecosystem works (i.e. is this a test instance separate and different in terms of features from open science?) #introduction
@Carlos yes, this instance does not include the features mentioned in the open science page. That is a work in progress which depedns on community involving in terms of pushing the features, discussions and funding to cover the needed development.
Hello? Anyone here? An Introduction...
...providing there is someone here to read it.
I'm Baslow, an *alter kacker * residing in the Inwood neighborhood of Upper Manhattan -- in the same neighborhood, believe it or not, as my father grew up in. So, whether or not I'm a typical New Yorker, I will claim to be a real New Yorker.
Is this thing on?
I make note of my residence because, lately, I have been concerned with the various ways we tend to use the word community . I believe that we've been socialized to use the word in so many ways that are watered-down that we have almost lost sight of what primordial human communities -- the communities in which most of the traits we think of as human evolved -- must have been like.
This collective amnesia has, I believe, a bearing on the kinds of online communities we attempt to build and leads us -- even when we are attempting to combat them -- to reinforce forms of hyper-individualism, fragmentation and alienation which prevent us from sustaining broad solidarity and effective collective action in opposition to the forces which constrain and exploit us.
I am working on a projet I call **Communitarium **(mostly in my head, but there is an uninhabited model site) in which interested people could research and attempt to put into practice new, richer forms of online community.
I can't say I yet have a coherent account of everything I believe and what I think needs to be done but I'm happy to answer questions if anyone is even vaguely interested.
@Baslow id like to learn more
hi @edumerco 😊 the logic to configure the left sidebar is already in place, and we use it for customize the sidebar based on which extension are enabled (now it's not that obvious because this instance has not many extensions enabled, but you can see that recently it was added a "publication" link at the bottom of the sidebar, because we enabled the open_science extension ) .
We do not offer yet the possibility for users to customize it - mostly because once we will add Groups and Topics, the left sidebar will likely be rethinked a bit to properly include those as well...
Unreadable links on bonfire.networks hacking page:
@bhaugen ops, that's a problem with the light theme, if you click the moon icon in the top-right that theme should work better, will report the bug anyway thanks!
@anhnguyennguyen thanks for your words 😊 we plan to keep using this instance beyond the beta phase to keep showcasing beta features and test it in the open (and potentially co-design new features with users) - but federation will remain disabled. We do not want to have a flagship instance, but rather support users and communities to setup their own, eventually easing the hosting process bonfirenetworks.org/hosting/
I wonder if #Bonfire will have quote boosts before v1.0 Or local vs following timeline feeds
@Revnabon we will not likely work on quote before v1.0 (altough contributors can develop such feature as a bonfire extension if there's interest) - We already have local (navigate to explore and click on the "local" tab), and following (My feed) timelines 😊
P.S.: It does show on the laptop version, but not on the Android web browser version.
@anhnguyennguyen ah yeah, it's a known bug on mobile...we're currently focusing on federation and framework composability/optimisations as they're the main blocker to the 1.0 and once they're done we'll go back to the remaining (not few, but hopefully not that much 😁 ) bugs...
🔥 Exciting News! On January 31st, Bonfire will be at the heart of a workshop at UCL's Bartlett School for Sustainable Construction. We're teaming up with students in the Inclusive Learning Environments program to reimagine open digital learning spaces. Expect innovative ideas that will enhance how to design with Bonfire ( bonfirenetworks.org/design ) and possibly spark new developmental pathways! #BonfireWorkshop #UCL #InclusiveLearning
Hallo Bonfire-Community!
Hello Bonfire community! Starting from now on, I will be sharing in English and German on topics that encompass disability and disability rights, early childhood education, education and pedagogy, inclusion, as well as special needs education. Additionally, I will provide insights into my personal matters. Meanwhile, I will continue extensively testing Bonfire until it exits the beta phase! I am excited to be here and look forward to connecting with everyone!
@anhnguyennguyen sounds great <3
@ivan it just didn't want to load posts or let you view them, it just kept showing half an animated flame in all the feeds. Only once logged out, could one see the posts from yourself and others.
@PlasticCloud thanks, noted 🙏
Works very nicely on desktop though...
Wish it was as smooth on iOS.
@PlasticCloud thanks! what are the most critical points in iOS ?
