Hi! After seeing a post on #Mastodon, I thought I'd make a profile here. At the moment, like others, I'm unsure how different this is to Mastodon, particularly as I'm not a tech person at all.

I realise that this isn't federated to Mastodon (yet?), but if it does, I imagine having a profile here and a profile on Mastodon would be redundant (?) – unless users want to have more than one profile, which I know many do (and I have more than one, too). And another thing, is there an app for this I can download for my phone?

@pjf From what I've seen, there's overlap and there's some differences. Mastodon is a kind of software for making websites. Bonfire is also software for making websites. The plan for Bonfire is to work on adding some features that Mastodon doesn't have, like groups, which I'm in favor of. You can find more information on their fundraiser page: indiegogo.com/en/projects/bo...

@coyote Thank you.

For me, as a non-tech person, I find it tricky to see which kind of service would suit me best. But from what I can see and read, Bonfire looks like it's going to have what many people want. Will wait to see what happens.
