I don't think I understand how Boundaries are supposed to work.

I haven't tested this in a while and see that with version 1.0 that there are ways to install a server, including with Yunohost. Does that mean that it's ready for general use as a replacement for Mastodon? Is federation enabled if self-hosting? And lastly, will it work with 3rd party apps? apps.yunohost.org/app/bonfire
