I encountered this issue while using Bonfire:
Tried to follow ivan but got a "Sorry, could not connect to the database. Please try again later and/or contact the instance operators" message.
The cycling of background colours is quite annoying. I don't think I have changed that setting but it has the appearance of drawing the screen in a default colour scheme and then redoing in whatever setting I probably have in my preferences.

Hmm, @Fediverse_Report liked my post and the notification bell indicates I have 1 notification but I can't work out a way how to reset that counter. I've looked at the notifications and the post but it's still telling me I have one notification 馃槙
Just testing out another new instance type to see what it is like and what various apps think of it. Also added it to my bot's configuration (@fediversecounter@mastodon.social) so it will count it as a fediverse member.
